3 Storey Family Home - Tavistock
Our home is a 3 storey house with a garden, garage and off-street parking. We bought the house in 2013 and it is only 14 years old.
Downstairs is a toilet, family kitchen with dining table and a good sized lounge. Double doors lead on to our garden which has a patio area and a lawn.
The middle floor contains 2 bedrooms and a family bathroom (with shower). One bedroom is a standard double, the second is our daughters room which contains a single bed. We also have our office.
The third floor is our master suite which is a large bedroom with plenty of storage and it`s on en-suite with shower.
Our house is bright and modern in feel. In the lounge we have Sky TV (including Sky Sports), DVD player (and use of DVD collection), Bluetooth music system and an LP player. The kitchen has a speaker for music. The garage houses our tumble dryer and has a spare fridge for drinks.
We have a cat, called Mystery, a 1 year old. Mystery can either stay, in which case we would appreciate him being fed daily or we can put him in a cattery for the duration of the stay.
We did our first exchange to Brighton in August 2015 and enjoyed it thoroughly. We also completed 2 exchanges in 2016 to York and Twickenham. In 2017 we took part in our first overseas exchange and had a wonderful time in Barcelona. In 2018 we exchanged again with the same family in Twickenham as well as having a fortnight in Hertfordshire. In 2019 we again went somewhere new and swapped to Kent. In 2020 we completed a last-minute exchange to Cambridgeshire after Covid ruined many people’s plans. In 2021 we went back to Twickenham again and had 10 days in Margate. In 2023 we had a lovely week in the Lake District and we completed our second overseas exchange, to Lille.
We are now due to move house soon so are not currently looking for exchanges.
About the location
Tavistock town centre is 5-10 minutes away by foot and offers a wide range of amenities. Tavistock is a thriving market town adjoining the western edge of the Dartmoor National Park and was in 2004 voted the winner of a nationwide survey undertaken by the Council for the Protection of Rural England involving 120 other market towns. Among the assets taken into consideration were history, architecture, community spirit, planning sensitivity, recreational facilities and individuality of shops and businesses. Additional facilities include a hospital, several pubs and a bustling Pannier Market.
Plymouth is only 15 miles away with fast Inter City rail links to London, Bristol and the North. There are also ferry services to Roscoff, Brittany and Santander, Northern Spain.
The nearest beaches are at Widemouth on the North Cornwall coast and Wembury, which is just East of Plymouth; both are accessible in about 45 minutes. Dartmoor, and all it has to offer, is only 5 minutes away.
