A spacious Exmoor, North Devon family stone cottage with three bedrooms (sleeps 6 or more in 2 kings, and a twin and mattresses in lounge) in one of North Devon`s highest hamlets near the coastal path cliffs of Countisbury head in a quiet hamlet above Watersmeet National Trust cafe and the nature heaven of the ancient oak woods of the Lyn and `Lorna Doone` Valleys. Countless walks to 3 great pubs within 1 to 2 miles.
The house is awaiting renovation, but is in a fabulous spot with stunning views and amazing peace, quiet and birdlife. It has; a cosy log burner in the lounge; a small kitchen and dining room and small conservatory and gardens on three levels. Garage for small car and 1/2 parking places.
3 large private gardens with stunning far reaching rural views towards the sea at Lynmouth and Exmoor. A high sunny terrace with a beautiful views across the woodlands and East Lyn Valley to enjoy whilst you eat your breakfast or BBQ.
Please note: Our house is a reasonably tidy family home, and though clean, it is not immaculate and is awaiting renovation. We will of course give it a big tidy and spring clean before the swap. There is a very large paddling pool and a large number of varied o games for use, plus direct access to a Bridleway and maze of footpaths to rivers, cliffs, moors or beaches intrepid or little explorers!
A nature lovers paradise where you can watch sheep, swallows and martins, and numerous tits and finches and woodpeckers on the birdfeeders (if you keep them loaded long enough!). Owls, bats and hawks, kestrels and kites and we can promise you this is the closest you will ever come to a near collision with a swallow whilst you enjoy your G&T!
About the location
The cottage is located on a bank just above the small hamlet (5 houses) of Wilsham at the end of a dead end road and farm track within Exmoor national park.

Great Rollright is one of the highest villages in the cotswolds with plenty of walking opportunities to great local pubs and breweries in the villages of Hook Norton (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/19/travel/19pubs.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0), Whichford and Long Compton (http://www.redlion-longcompton.co.uk/.
There are stables in the village and nearby in Chastleton for excellent riding days.
Great Rollright is famous for the beautiful Norman church across the field from the cottage and the legends of the Rollright Stones and Circle. It has a well stocked farm shop with a good cafe and nursery.
It is 3km to the market town of Chipping Norton (the Cotswold`s best kept secret! ) with an eclectic theatre and eating places, varied shopping and antiques, arts and crafts as well as a fabulous heated outdoor pool, leisure centre and golf course.
Rollright is a great base for those wanting to visit: the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon; Whichford and her bluebell woods and famous Pottery and cafe; Oxford and her colleges and museums; Woodstock & Blenheim palace; Banbury or the sleepy Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Bourton-on-the-water; Silverstone or even Cheltenham races!
