Spacious penthouse set in the heart of an historic village - Canzo, Italy

Renovated in 2011 with a modern and cozy feeling, the apartment is located in a 18th century building, last restored in 2000.

Set in the heart of the historic village of Canzo, the flat is located on the last floor (3rd) and offers great and romantic views of the surrounding mountains and old rooftops. The apartment is bright, silent, spacey (100 mq) and studied in detail. Oiled ash wooden floor and exposed beams give the house a warm cozy character.

The house is fully furnished and is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, gas cooker, 42" TV and HiFi. All rooms are decorated with original artwork by the owners (Giovanni is an illustrator and Miriam a painter).

A big living room is directly connected to the kitchen-dining room, creating a wide and articulate open space. There are two double rooms and two bathrooms, one with a big shower and the other with a bathtub. A sofa bed in the living area gives offers an extra double bed.

There's a balcony facing the mountains that also gives acces to the property.
The house has gas central heating. An additional ventilated log burner in the dining room and a pellet stove in the living room offer an alternative for heating the house at low prices. Excellent and seasoned beech logs can be bought near Canzo at a very good rates, as well as pellet bags. Logs can be stored in a large protected wooden box in the balcony.

There's a paved communal courtyard at ground level with a useful roofed shelter for bicycles.

The main shops are just downstairs: a butcher, a grocery store, a baker and a greengrocer, providing almost everything that could be needed.
The railway station, with direct connection to Milano, is just a 5 minutes walk from the flat. Como, Lecco and Bellagio are less then 30 minutes by car.
The closest airport is Milano/Bergamo, 1 hour drive from the flat.

About the location

Canzo is strategically located between Como and Lecco (both a 20-minute drive) to 500 meters above sea level. The beautiful Lake Como, with its villas and lush vegetation offers great views, swimming and boating opportunities. Como is a city full of character and leisure, being an ideal place for shopping, restaurants, museums, and with extensive historical and pedestrian centre. Bellagio is just 20 minutes drive away, Milan is 1 hour by train.

Lake Segrino beatutiful, and bathing with a small beach, is a 10-minute walk, while the Lake Pusiano is a 15-minute drive. Many hiking trails are nearby the property, suitable for families and experts who want to reach the top of the peaks.

In winter, cross-country skiing can be practiced in Pian del Tivano, a 20-minute drive from the house, while downhill skiing can be practiced in Piani di Bobbio (30 minute drive).

Being Canzo 30-minute drive from the Swiss border, Lugano is another interesting site at hand.
