Townhouse dating back to 18th century by Roman Walls, city centre, all the arts

My home is remarkably quiet despite being in the centre of Chichester. The terraced house is situated on a residential cul de sac which overlooks the magniifcient historic Priory Park with its Guildhall and Roman Walls. There are two double bedrooms with double beds, one luxurious bathroom with walk-in shower and stylish bath, one downstairs toilet, fully fitted kitchen and a sitting-dining room overlooking the garden. At the bottom of the garden is my office, not for use during swaps. The house has all the amenities - wifi, central heating, gas fire - but not laundry which is easily seen to via the local laundry which washes, dries and folds all clothing for a reasonable cost within two days. The house is furnished to my style which includes living in Denmark as a child - modern yet stylish and comfortable. There are no pets. Visitors love the proximity of the remarkable Chichester Festival Theatre opposite, many in-house productions transferring to London, New York and other major cities. Pallant House Gallery, the largest modern art gallery on the South Coast, is a seven minute walk away as is the stunning Chichester Cinema at New Park with its international film festival, its quirkiness and independence a much-valued addition to the Georgian city. There is a Museum, a university with many concerts and art shows, all within walking distance as is the 10th century Chichester Cathedral with its own art and concerts. Shopping is a stone's throw away from the house as are restaurants, both independent and chains plus a handful of pubs. Whatever you do, take a walk along the Roman Walls above the city which links two main parks, the walled Priorty Park and Bishops' Palace Gardens.

About the location

Nearby is a wealth of places to visit: Goodwood, home to dukes of Richmond, West Dean College, home to arts programmes for those wishing to take short or degree courses and their beautiful walled gardens with restored Victorian greenhouses. The Weald and Downland Museum is a must for those wishing to understand how people lived in past centuries via houses moved from all over the southeast in parkland and nearby is the Coast, the Witterings beaches with its protected dunes, Portsmouth and its historic dockyards and the South Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty worthy of exploring, not least for its walks, pubs and old villages. Gatwick airport is 75 minute drive away - Heathrow too, at 85 minutes - and Chichester train station is a 12 minute walk, along pedestrianised streets to the house. Do you have a car? Park in the large car park by the theatre opposite the house.
