Renovated 17th century farm in beautiful countryside close to the Loire river

Our house is an old family farm from the XVIIth century. We had it renovated years ago to be a warm welcoming place to live as a family.

The main room (which was the old barn) is a large and very high ceiling room with the kitchen, the dinning area, a wood stove and a sofa. There are 4 bedrooms, each with a double bed. One of the bedroom is an independant master suite with a private bathroom. There is another bathroom with a bath and 2 sinks.

Outside, there is an area where you can eat, and another one to relax.

About the location

The area is full of old volcanos, so very hilly with nice views, small villages, old castles, forests and rivers. Great for outdoor activities.

La Fayolle in dialect means "the village at the top of the mountain." It is 700 metres high So we can get snow on winter.

Perched on the mountain above the village of Chamalières sur Loire, La Fayolle counts twenty houses. It is surrounded by woods, even though there is a nice view on the Loire valley. The village is quiet, and the neighborhood is nice.

Chamalières is 4km away. It has 2 restaurants, a newsagent/cafe and a baker. It also has a Church and a Priory from the Xth century. Nice walk or bike along the Loire, or fishing.

Retournac is 10 min drive. It has a small supermarket, a summer swimming pool along the Loire river, a market and all kind of small shops, and the Lace Museum (the area is known for its fine Lace, especially Le Puy en Velay).

Le Puy en Velay is 35 min drive. This is where the famous St Jacques de Compostelle way starts. It has a beautiful old center, with small streets, a famous Cathedral overlooking the city, the Virgin statue on the high rock, the Saint Michel Xth century chapel on the opposite rock, many festivals in summer, fine restaurants, pubs, many shops...
