Hill Farm Barn
Hill Farm Barn is a traditional `barn` in a former farmyard. It is now converted into a 3 bedroom house and the farmyard is an attractive enclosed courtyard with garden and seating/dining areas. The barn is just a few yards from the village green and 20 yards from the local pub.
The two storey barn is light and spacious. Downstairs comprises: kitchen/diner with gas hob and electric cooker, spacious sitting room with wood burner, dining room, shower room, utility room and downstairs loo.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, two of which have en-suite shower rooms. There is also a family bathroom.
The courtyard is large - whatever the weather you can find sun or shade. There is a fire-pit for the cooler weather, outdoor seating areas and comfortable seating for relaxed snoozing ....
Bikes are in the shed and can be used. There is also a canoe.
About the location
Hill Farm is is in the centre of the peaceful village of Reach - and yet only a few miles from bustling Cambridge and historic Ely which are equidistant at 12 miles away on great cycle routes. The racing town of Newmarket is 10 miles away, so it makes a great base from which to explore.
Located on the River Cam (great for punting), Cambridge is home to the prestigious University of Cambridge, dating to 1209. University colleges include King’s, famed for its choir and towering Gothic chapel, as well as Trinity, founded by Henry VIII, and St John’s, with its 16th-century Great Gate. University museums have exhibits on archaeology and anthropology, polar exploration, the history of science and zoology. And then there is also the Fitzwilliam museum. https://www.visitcambridge.org/
By contrast Newmarket (just miles away) is the home of racing. It was once the sporting playground for royalty and is now home to over 3000 horses and boasts two racecourses. It has great local facilities, good eateries and the National Horseracing Museum. https://www.visitsuffolk.com/explore-newmarket
The local bus stops on the village green and you can get busses into either Newmarket or Cambridge.
The village pub (open Wednesday - Sunday) is just across the village green. It offers delicious fresh fish and chips on a Friday and a roast on a Sunday. There is often live music on a Friday night.
There is fantastic cycling locally, and the River Cam is only a few miles away and the Lode is even closer, which is great for canoeing and paddleboarding. Should anyone wish to bring horses, there is a local livery yard and fantastic hacking locally – please ask if you`re interested.
For those interested in wildlife, the area is rich in wildlife. Reach is on the edge of the National Trust’s ambitious “Fen Vision” which seeks to create a "green lung" approximately 100,000 hectares of land between their properties at Wicken Fen and Anglesey Abbey. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cambridgeshire/wicken-fen-national-nature-reserve/wicken-fen-vision
