Secluded converted Dales barn near Hawes

Blades House is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, detached converted barn built in 1866. It is located in the Yorkshire Dales at the head of the Mallerstang Valley. Although adjacent to another cottage and just down the track from a farm, it is set in secluded, beautiful countryside with panoramic views.

The house has oil-fired central heating and double glazing throughout.
Downstairs there is a large living/dining room with a wood burning stove (wood provided). There is a well-equipped kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge (no freezer), washing machine and dish washer.

Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms, 1 large, 1 small with a king size and double bed respectively.
There is a bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and basin. In addition, there is a separate snug reading area with books and views.

Outside there is a small sitting area and a grassed garden. There is parking for two cars.
The water is spring fed and can be discoloured especially after rain. We have a filter and ultra-violet water treatment system but advise you to boil the tap water before drinking. We will provide some bottled water to start you off.

Please note that due to its remote location, there is no Wi-Fi or TV. However, a mobile phone booster has been fitted that provides a good phone signal – 3G and 4G are available with this.

About the location

Blades House is located ½ mile down a well-maintained private track just off the B6259, 6 miles from the market town of Hawes and 11 miles from Sedbergh. Hawes and Sedbergh are both well served with pubs and cafes.

There are many walks directly from the house, both easy and more challenging. The Pennine Bridleway, which is part of Lady Anne’s Way, runs just up the hill behind the house. Wild Boar Fell can be seen from the house.

The Settle-Carlisle Railway can also be seen from the house and Garsdale Station is 1.7 miles from the house.
