Beautiful Regency Townhouse in the heart of Bohemian Kemptown with sea views
We have lovingly restored our home retaining most of the original features such as the ceiling coving in many of the rooms. With the high ceilings of the Regency period, it is so elegant but has a wonderful happy atmosphere that everyone loves. The accommodation is arranged over four floors, each reached by the original broad staircase and mahogany hand rail that gently curves upwards. The stairs are easy to climb and there are several landings but this house would not be suitable for those with mobility problems.
The entrance hall has the original stained glass door and as you open the door you can see the light coming from our Garden Room and pretty walled garden beyond. The Garden Room houses the washing machine, boiler and sink and there is a fridge freezer there too, great if you want to barbecue or have coffee in the garden. At the top of the first fight of stairs there is a pretty landing with our grandfather clock, original stained glass window as well as the shower room with toilet. Climbing a few more stairs you will arrive at the double sitting room with amazing high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows at the front with views of the sea beyond. The other end of the room looks on to the garden but is used as the dining room. The other half of the sitting room has two comfy sofas, TV and newly laid flooring. The next floor houses the spacious, modern fitted kitchen with breakfast bar which seats at least 6 people. It is very well equipped and has what I call the `Mary Poppins` views over the chimney pots and rooves of Kemptown. The master bedroom situated at the front of the house is also on this floor and has a king sized bed, wardrobes and a lovely bathroom with shower and sea views. The best views however are from the two front bedrooms from which you can see the beach and the different daily moods of the sea.
We feel so lucky to live here and love to share our house with others, and I am sure you would have a wonderful time here too.
About the location
We love living by the seaside and Brighton is such a great place to be, marrying the buzz and the excitement of the city with the Bohemian Kemptown area with its bars, restaurants, junk/ flea markets. We have a Friday market further along the street and a great Health food shop as well. There is always something going on and if you can`t find it here then the main part of Brighton is about a 5 minute walk away. We are a few minutes walk from the famous Pier and the seafront where there are bars, crazy golf, summer festivals and all sorts going on. Take the under cliff footpath all the way to Rottingdean walking right beside the sea and stop for a coffee on the way
Brighton Racecourse is about a ten minute walk, and you can easily access the South Downs and the National Park either on foot or with our amazing bus service. The train from Brighton to central London takes less than 1 hour.
Our street is very friendly and we all support each other. Brighton is a welcoming, small city where everyone is included and it gives a glimpse of a different sort of England.
