Large house in quiet neighborhood with good access to downtown. It has several bedrooms and lots of space and light. There is a garden and a fire pit for cooking outside.

About the location

Seattle is known generally for its easy access to the out of doors: boating, skiing, hiking, camping, and magnificent alpine areas, all within an hour’s drive. Farther afield are the Cascade & Olympic mountains (about an hour’s drive each), deserts of Eastern Washington (3 hours drive), the San Juan Islands (1.5 hrs plus ferry), and the cities of Portland, Oregon (3-4 hrs), and Vancouver British Columbia, Canada (3 hrs). Trains and inexpensive buses make many places accessible even without a car. (We may consider loaning our 2012 Honda Fit.)

We live in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, 3 miles from the downtown waterfront of the city. Our area is quiet and safe. There is easy access via public transportation to downtown and to the Seattle-Tacoma airport. Ferry boats from downtown ply the waters of Puget Sound to a variety of islands for day trips. Seattle is a commercial and education hub with corporate headquarters and/or important offices for Boeing, Microsoft, Expedia, Amazon, Starbucks, Costco, and others. Major educational institutions include the University of Washington and its medical school, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, and the Seattle Community Colleges. The city hosts several museums, many parks and playgrounds (many within walking distance), and a world-class newer public library downtown (a site in itself) designed by Rem Koolhaus.
