Newly refurbished cozy farmhouse in French Tuscany

We fell in love with this farmhouse and its location, that we completely refurbished to design our dream family home (as well as our home offices) to raise our two toddlers. We finally moved in summer 2024.

Jake and I traveled a lot before moving here and since we could work from anywhere we waited to find the perfect spot before finding this nice farm that we completely refurbished.

It is a very special home, with all the comfort of a new house and all the charm of an old stone farm house over looking our beautiful medieval village Castelnau de Montmiral. (Please be aware that most pics have been taken in Jan. Spring pics to come;)

We have 5 bedrooms (of which three double bedrooms (2 with ensuite), 1 baby and 1 kid bedroom). We also have two home offices - that we generally don't include in the swap but if you were desperate to work while others are having fun;) you definitely could-

We made it a very cosy home (which is not a given as a lot of big farms in France are second homes, nice but not that cozy/comfy all year round). We just love reading a nice book in front of the fireplace when the village out of the big window is all frosty:) In spring/summer, we are in the middle of a blooming country, beautiful markets and village/vineyards parties! And if it gets too hot (we have aircon:), you can just take a deep in our pool or go for a swim in nearby lake or river.

Our farmhouse being brand new we are used to be attentive and respectful with places as we know what it takes to have a beautiful home;)

About the location

We live just outside of the beautiful Castelnau de Montmiral, in a region called the French Tuscany.

This is a very special area and people who are lucky enough to discover it always end up coming back. We are lucky to live in a little hidden gem;) When people come and visit us, they always say ’Why we do not know more about this place/region!?’

That said they are a lot of brits and foreigners living here, which makes me think that some people definetly know it very well;)

We are surrounded by fields, valleys, little medieval villages and beautiful market towns like Albi. The area has a lot to offer, countryside is beautiful with a lot of nice walks/horse riding/cycle rides/kayaking in countryside and vineyards.

Our house is in what they call the ’golden triangle’ of ’French Tuscany’ as we are surrounded by UNESCO medieval villages: Castelnau de Montmiral (that we see from most windows in our house;), Puycelsi, Penne, Bruniquel, Cordes, Saint Antonin de Noble Val... They are all really special.

Albi is also a very beautiful hidden gem to check out with a stunning Cathedral and art museum, and Toulouse (50min away) is a cool city to visit (with great museums, restaurants, shops and a spanish vibe to it).

If you like driving, you could also go skiing to the mountains (2h15min) or to the seaside (same distance) for a couple of days or, even more adventurous, to the spanish border or Andorra!

Most common program for us is generally: walk in the country or nature immersion (swim, kayak, cycle, horse...), little wonder at a market, nice picnic or restaurant around ours, discover and rediscover the medieval Bastides/villages, farniente (by the pool in summer), apero-concert in the vineyards...
