This 1200sf home is single storey. It has been extensively modernized - with a solar system and new roof and insulation and a remodeled bathroom, plus new appliances and a cozy gas fireplace. The pleasant garden area offers good privacy, a bistro table, and views into the forest. In addition the well-screened hot tub is a joy on foggy moonlit evenings and sunny mornings alike. A stunning Golf Course is half a mile away, and the university town of Arcata (pop 17000) is 2 miles away from our our semi-rural location.

About the location

Humboldt County is in the extreme North of California and boasts endless Redwood forests, plus miles of pristine and under-populated beaches. Most people here are active- so whether you are into climbing, mountain biking, surfing, kayaking or hiking/backpacking, it is a veritable (rural-coastal) wonderland.

Arcata hosts organic Farmers` Markets, and several Festivals throughout the year. The City is known world-wide for its ground-breaking wastewater management system known as the "Arcata Marsh". The area is home to several indigenous tribes and multiple National Parks and Wilderness areas. From bird-watchers to micro-brew beer fans, there is something for everyone (* except those who prefer big cities!)

* Guests should be aware that California is huge- and San Francisco is a good 300 miles south!
